Instagram has taken blogging to an entirely different level. Similar to how Snapchat redefined chatting through pictures; Instagram has its users hooked to photography and citing creative captions beneath them. With an array of super filters that help tweak photos before one uploads them, Instagram also has a catchy Boomerang mode to record videos. Its latest feature is video calling, much like that of WhatsApp.
AUDIO AND VIDEO CALLING COMING YOUR WAY!
To step up its game and be on par with competitive apps such as WhatsApp and Messenger, Instagram is introducing audio as well as video calling in its direct messaging section. The video calling is not available for public use just yet but it is understandable that the system will be fairly easy to use. Nothing technical or challenging.
Instagram video chat screen can be minimised and the user will be able to continue browsing within the application. The feature works for one to one chat as well as small group chat.
Facebook subsidiary WhatsApp has been using the video calling feature for quite some while now and based on its success, the application is now going to support group video calling soon.
Along with this, Instagram made the announcement that it will soon release bully filters for its users. The Instagram team wrote that, “This new filter hides comments containing attacks on a person’s appearance or character, as well as threats to a person’s well-being or health.” In accordance with this, the Instagram team will also be notified when an account has been repeatedly reported as having ethical issues.
The time and date for when these new features will roll out has not been set, but we are hopeful that we will be able to use them soon.
